For the new year 2012, our new Sunday morning worship schedule includes the following:
8:00 AM -Early Worship - This service keeps the rich traditional forms of worship alive in the midst of a beautiful classical setting. At Immanuel you will be able to truly express your thanksgiving to God by honoring the old, warm liturgical, ways of worshiping the Trinity - in spirit and truth. Each Sunday you will experience quiet times of reflection, along with robust singing of hymns with a full pipe organ. Here the Holy Spirit regularly shows up with grace and peace - lifting you up with a new way of thinking and motivation. During the months of January and February, Pastor Jess Knauft, will also be giving a special sermon series on the deep significance of praying through the inspirational themes of the Lord's Prayer.
For a typical 8:00 AM sermon from 2011, check out the following:
9:30 AM -Sunday School and Adult Bible Studies: Our Adult groups include a parenting class and a class on the Basics of the Christian faith (Lutheranism #101).
9:37 AM - Pastor's Teaching Service (Heart-to-Heart). This is a time for rich theological and devotional reflection on various aspects of the Lord's Prayer - along with a time for weekly Holy Communion. There is also an opportunity for private prayer at the altar with the laying on of hands and anointing of oil (James 5:14; Mark 6:13) - for the healing of human hurts. Following the service, a prayer team is also available for praying about life's issues, for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, or for discerning God's will in your life. Finally, there is a Spirit filled prayer group in the back of the church that meets in the nursery room for lifting up your special needs.
11:00 AM -Worship - This contemplative fusion of the historic liturgy and renewal oriented worship is designed to provide an opportunity for people to experience the best of the ancient faith - along with many reverent worship songs of the past couple of generations. Those that are coming from a non liturgical or non-denominational background will find this to be a fresh change of pace, as it combines solid Bible teaching with an emphasis on integrating the rhythm of grace in the context of a catholic tradition.
